South African Coach Jake White Loses His Job After Returning Home With Rugby World Cup

After bringing home the Webb Ellis Trophy, and the only undefeated side in the Rugby World Cup 2007. Springbok coach Jake White has lost his job as national Rugby coach. The announcement by South Africa Rugby Union (SARU) comes after constantly advertising the post for South African Rugby Coach in newspapers and in the media since the start of the Rugby World Cup 2007.

The South African coach went all out in a press interview today, claiming that there has never been any “loyalty and trust” between himself and SARU.

Under his first term with the Springboks, Jake White’s men won the Tri-Nations, and two years later he has coached a team that has won the Webb Ellis Rugby World Cup - The most prestige Cup in the Rugby World, awarded once every 4 years.

The real notion by SARU, is that Jake White did not re-apply for his position, something Jake White says was not stated in his contract. He believed he would be given the chance to serve as coach of the Springboks for years to come, but SARU has not given him this opportunity. Instead SARU insisted Jake White himself should send an application, that he wants to carry on coaching the team.

Jake White seemed very upset at the press conference, but his future is not looking bad, with offers coming in from countries such as England and Australia, where he seen as a priceless asset.
