RWC 2007 Argentina Top of Pool D with 9 Points after Defeating Georgia

Argentina have defeated Georgia in their Pool D Rugby World Cup 2007 clash at the Stade de Gerland tonight. Argentina pushed for a bonus point and with 30 seconds remaining, Federico Aramburu managed to score Argentina’s fourth try. The final result was Argentina 33-3 Georgia.

Final World Rugby Rankings Before The Rugby World Cup

With the IRB Rugby World Cup 2007 almost a week away, the final World Rugby Rankings have been updated, and will remain as they are going into the World Cup.

With all the Rugby World Cup warm up games happening in the past few weeks, the rankings have been changing. The most notable change in the final list is Ireland who move from 6th to 5th, overtaking the Los Pumas of Argentina.

The New Zealand All Blacks remain on top, followed by the Wallabies and then host nation France in 3rd. The Springboks who are tipped off as second best favourites to win the Webb Ellis Cup, are in 4th place.

Georgia’s “Lelos” 30-Man Rugby World Cup (RWC) 2007 Squad Announced

Coach of Georgia’s National Rugby team, Malkhaz Tcheishvili has named an experienced 30-man squad for Rugby World Cup 2007. With 13 players having previous World Cup experience.

Malkhaz Tcheishvili’s side will be captained by Ilia Zedginidze who returns from injury.

The Rugby World Cup 2007 will be Georgia’s second appearance in a Rugby World Cup tournament. In Australia 2003 they had a winless record, but did manage to score a try against 1995 World Champions South Africa.

Georgia are in Pool D with host nation France, Argentina, Ireland and Namibia. Their opening match being against the Los Pumas of Argentina at the Stade de Gerland in Lyon on 11 September at 20:00 GMT.

The Lelos of Georgia are currently ranked 17th in the world.
