Samoa have managed to defeat the USA Eagles earlier today. The match looked like a comfortably easy game for the Samoans at first, but turned out to be one of the toughest matches of the Rugby World Cup 2007 so far as the USA Eagles refused to give them the game. The match was the first win for Samoa at the Rugby World Cup 2007. USA Eagles will face South Africa next on Sunday 30 September.

The USA Eagles will take on Samoa in their 3rd match at the Rugby World Cup 2007. They have announced their official 15 man starting line-up that will be on the field for kick off at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium on Wednesday 26 September.

After both teams were under tremendous pressure going into the game, England managed to be victorious over Samoa in their Rugby World Cup Pool A clash earlier today. The match saw the return of Jonny Wilkinson who was on fire and kicked 2 drop goals, 3 conversions and 4 penalties.

Tonga have caused a major upset at the Rugby World Cup 2007. Today they managed to overturn the game against Samoa after being down at the start of the second half. Tonga managed to defeat Samoa in an amazing performance in Montpelier.

The Springboks have kept their 1995 record alive of winning their opening game of the Rugby World Cup by 50 points or more. The Springboks put on a fair performance against the big side from Samoa.
Bryan Habana had a superb performance and scored 4 tries on the day, giving South Africa a bonus point. Jean de Villiers suffered from a torn bicep muscle and it seems as though he will be out of the Rugby World Cup 2007.
Brian Lima made his 5th international Rugby World Cup appearance for Samoa, making him the only player ever to compete in 20 years of Rugby World Cup tournaments.

With the IRB Rugby World Cup 2007 almost a week away, the final World Rugby Rankings have been updated, and will remain as they are going into the World Cup.
With all the Rugby World Cup warm up games happening in the past few weeks, the rankings have been changing. The most notable change in the final list is Ireland who move from 6th to 5th, overtaking the Los Pumas of Argentina.
The New Zealand All Blacks remain on top, followed by the Wallabies and then host nation France in 3rd. The Springboks who are tipped off as second best favourites to win the Webb Ellis Cup, are in 4th place.
